Like many older homes in Toronto, the property faced major challenges, including inefficient layout, outdated systems, and a basement with limited ceiling height and poor accessibility — making it unsuitable for rental use. Based on our experience with old home renovations in Toronto, we approached this project with a focus on structural upgrades, system redesign, and long-term investment value. The basement underwent full underpinning and foundation reinforcement to increase ceiling height and meet legal requirements. We redesigned the entire layout to create three self-contained units, each with functional living space, proper ventilation, and efficient heating and cooling systems. Electrical and plumbing systems were fully upgraded to comply with current building codes.
